Wild Meadow Garden

This was a project I helped complete as part of a team at Park Hood Landscape Architects, mainly working on the soft landscaping of this project.

It was originally a beautifully wild site with rolling hills and beautiful Oak trees on-site. The house was designed and built to resemble the vernacular of the local area. A large flint wall anchors the site and shou-sugi-ban burnt timber.

We installed formal lawns in certain area, tied together with flint gravel paths. A large portion of soft landscaping is wild meadow that we seeded Cow Parsley, Poppies and Cosmos into it to self-seed and spread around. Thousands of spring bulbs were also planted to decorate the banks in the winter when you drive through the site and visit the property.

We planted several mature Pinus nigra (Austrian Black Pine) to give the garden some privacy in key areas as well as large columns of Carpinus betulus (Hornbeam) to act as anchors next to the flint wall.

This project was completed in Summer 2024
