Urban Garden, Central London [In Progress]
This garden is due to be completed in Autumn 2025. It’s a small urban garden with level changes falling towards the house. This design needed to be practical for people to relax and sit in whilst also feeling connected to nature. We installed large multistem Cornus mas (Cornelian Cherry) for the three cut out beds that meander through the garden. These three trees offer huge seasonality in terms of bright yellow flowers, autumn colour and berries.
The planting underneath will be very naturalistic with using grasses and wildflowers that will change over time. We used a Spanish limestone for the paving and the steps and the fence we used old Oak decking boards that have a lovely ashen grey to them. This garden is mainly about the view from the kitchen and those floor-to-ceiling glass doors. The view doesn’t always have to be perfect but you do have to see seasonality.
