Urban Garden, South-East London

This project due to be built in Spring ‘27, is a dynamic, tropical garden making use of the long and thin shape and creating different rooms in the garden. Using low hedges and pallisade timber as breaks, as you travel deeper into the space, the planting changes to become more tropical and exotic.

The client wanted the garden to meander so that you have elements to look at whilst you walk. Using old rockery covered in moss and lichen as well as a sunken water trough that you walk over, give the garden elements of drama but also maturity and wildness.

The large existing Pear tree will act as an anchor to this garden along with the other new trees that will create a dapple shade effect as well as feeling of escape as it screens from the neighbouring properties. Fences painted black help the exotic planting really pop, combined with up-lighting will help create views not just vertically but also horizontally.
